Alexander St John

Alexander St JohnAlexander St John is a partner in the New York office of the law firm of Reinhardt LLP.

He represents companies on M&A, joint ventures, venture capital investing, commercial transactions and general corporate matters. He represents buyers and sellers in connection with domestic and international stock and asset acquisitions and divestitures as well as mergers. Mr. St John assists clients in negotiating and establishing domestic and international joint ventures and strategic partnerships. He represents companies and investors in connection with startup company incorporations, financings and exit transactions. He counsels clients in commercial transactions, including intellectual property licenses, co-development agreements, technology alliance agreements and NDAs. Mr. St John serves as an outsourced general counsel for companies on an as-needed basis, delivering high-quality results in a cost-effective manner.

Prior to joining Reinhardt LLP, he was an attorney in the Corporate Department of Morrison & Foerster LLP’s Tokyo and San Francisco offices where he represented Japanese, U.S., and other clients in a range of cross-border transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, early- and late-stage venture financings, strategic alliances and joint ventures.

Mr. St John earned his J.D. in 2002 from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law, where he was a Whitford Memorial Scholar and the Managing Editor of the Denver Journal of International Law and Policy. Mr. St John graduated from Northwestern University in 1998 with a B.A. in Political Science and International Studies. Prior to joining Morrison & Foerster LLP, Mr. St John worked in the Tokyo and New York offices of Deutsche Bank Group’s investment banking arm advising clients on mergers and acquisitions, predominantly, in the technology, healthcare, consumer and chemicals sectors.

Mr. St John is a pragmatic strategist who identifies and resolves legal issues in the context of evolving business objectives. He employs a practical, business-oriented approach to problem-solving, tempered by an appreciation of legal complexity and risk.

Mr. St John is fluent in English and proficient in Japanese and French. He is licensed to practice law in New York. An extensive traveler, Mr. St John grew up and was educated in London, Rome, Johannesburg, Geneva, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Chicago and Denver, and has spent his career working in Tokyo, New York and San Francisco.
